Lemon (Citrus Limonum) Cold-Pressed Organic Essential Oil
Lemons & their essential oil have a multitude of uses around the home and for general health; including household cleaning & cleansing the body (detox), supporting lymphatic drainage, lifting depression & freshening laundry.
In applied zoopharmacognosy it’s popular with cats by inhalation, often to treat kidney stones; dogs & horses tend to self-administer sub-lingually for the same purpose. The limonene in this essential oil can break down mineral deposits such as those in kidney & gall stones. Traditionally a horseman would strap half a lemon to a horse’s leg to cure ringbone.
When limonene passes through the liver it is broken down into various products, one of which is perillic acid, which can improve mood & stimulate the immune system.
