Yarrow (achillea millefolium) Distilled Aromatic Water
The name Achillea commemorates the Greek hero Achilles who used yarrow to heal the wounds of his soldiers. It has been used throughout history up until the First World War for treating wounds on the battlefield. It has long been used as a herb of divination and ceremonial magic.
Yarrow aromatic water (in a spray) is very useful for cleaning wounds & promoting healing, especially in places where it’s difficult to apply yarrow essential oil. It is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, carminative, anti-allergic (will reduce histamine-induced tissue reactions). Yarrow is renowned for its action as a haemostatic & styptic herb (will staunch bleeding).
It is good for digestive problems, especially constipation. Its anti-spasmodic properties (both for digestive & reproductive systems) make it helpful for mares who get tight back muscles when in season and for bitches who feel depressed & moody. The animal may wish to inhale, lick or will indicate that they would like the water applied topically.
Animals will also select yarrow to take them deeper into emotions they are processing; the aromatic water offers a gentler version than the essential oil for sensitive animals & cats.
